Chicago, the legendary rock ‘n' roll band with horns, is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Over the course of their remarkable career, the band has sold 100,000,000 records, netted 20 Top 10 hits, 5 Number One albums, 5 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles!
Formed in 1967, Chicago hit the scene like a whirlwind with their unique blend of rock-jazz fusion and ambitious experimental ballads.
Originally named Chicago Transit Authority, the band changed their name soon after the release of their self-titled debut album when the actual Chicago Transit Authority threatened legal action.
Though the band’s first album had already put them on the map with such hits as “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”, “Beginnings”, and “Questions 67 and 68,” Chicago’s popularity exploded with the release of their second album which included the top ten hits “Make Me Smile” and “Colour My World” among the other popular tracks on the album.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Chicago released a steady stream of hits, cementing their status as one of the longest running and most successful U.S. Pop/Rock & Roll Groups; second only to the Beach Boys.
Despite a turbulent past and numerous personnel shifts over the years, Chicago remains active and continues to tour and record.
