The month of May is Bike Month so I felt the need to weigh in on one of my other addictions, besides golf and fishing, and that’s bike riding. Unfortunately Ride Your Bike to Work week didn’t work for me since I live over 30 miles, and four freeways away from K-EARTH-101.
I’m a sometime after playing the Greatest Hits on Earth bike rider during the week and for sure on the weekend. I love my Carbon Fiber road bike, and I just invested in a Giro Lance Armstrong “Livestrong” helmet which color coordinates with my bike perfectly, black, yellow, and silver. Half of the cost of the helmet goes to the Lance Armstrong Livestrong cancer foundation, and I felt good about that since I’ve lost loved ones to the disease.
Did I mention that I own two bikes? I told you it’s an addiction, my second bike is a cruiser style that I ride to the store which is about a mile away from home, it comes out if I have a “two bagger” trip that I can balance on my handle bars.
Here’s the way I look at it, by the time I get in my car and start it up, drive to and from the store I’ve burned gasoline and the car really didn’t get warmed up, but I did, and it’s not a bad thing to huff and puff a little.
Anyway here’s to all the other bike riders in the world who share the same addiction, and to you motorists, thanks for sharing the road!
