Be as safe as can be this 4th of July
Let's face it - Kids are too cute and innocent to expose to the potential horrors of home fireworks. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, loss of hearing, even blindness can be the lasting memories of what begins as a holiday celebration! This 4th of July, avoid the dark and painful side to fireworks! To have a truly safe and fun 4th of July, go to a professional fireworks show. For information on shows in your community call (888) 654-FIRE or visit http://www.safejuly4th.org/fw/index.htm. Sponsored by: Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles Unified School District Police Department, and The Children's Burn Foundation.

2nd Annual Pipeline to a Cure Gala in HB!
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Southern California Chapter and PacSun (a leading surf, skate and youth lifestyle retailer) present the “2nd Annual Pipeline to a Cure Gala” at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach on Saturday, July 18th. The CF Foundation’s Pipeline to a Cure campaign was initiated after research showed that young cystic fibrosis (CF) patients who surf had healthier lungs. CF is a fatal genetic disease that causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus, which clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections. The CF Foundation along with honorary co-chairs and surf legends Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama will host the gala. Event and ticket information can be found at www.pipelinetoacure.com.

Spay or Neuter Your Pets for Pets Sake
More than 4 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters each year. Millions more are abandoned in rural and urban areas. This tragedy is preventable by spaying or neutering our pets. Spaying and neutering not only saves lives, it benefits the altered animal. Spayed and neutered pets are far less likely to develop cancer, and they don’t have the constant desire to roam and escape from your home in search of a mate. To find out more ways you can help end the pet overpopulation crisis and to check out spcaLA’s Specialty Spay/Neuter Center, visit www.spcaLA.com.
