Sunday morning found frost on the fairways for our 2-Better Ball of the foursome tournament. I actually had an ice buildup in my golf shoe spikes until we reached the third fairway.
I walked, which I always do at my home course with my push cart. I usually play better since walking gives me the opportunity to approach my ball and think about club selection and size up the shot. Somehow, we fell almost two holes behind the group in front of us and caught a lot of flack from the tournament directors, threatening to penalize us strokes, or even disqualify our foursome.
Get this, we played in four hours and fifteen minutes. For those of you who may not know, that’s a great time!
Usually, tournament rounds can drag on to five hours or more. Four hours and fifteen minutes, that includes looking for lost balls, I’ll take that pace of play any day. I’m still awaiting the results. We stunk as a foursome, but their may be a skin or two worth some dough for some of us, unless we got DQ’d. Wish me luck.
