We ventured to the Temecula Valley Saturday for the monthly away tournament, playing the S.C.G.A. (Southern California Golf Association) operated golf course formerly known as California City. This was my third visit to the course and Murrieta. Each year, I see phenomenal growth.
Anyway, the weather was cloudy and cool until the sun popped out at around 1 PM. I put on my rain pants so the goose bumps on my legs wouldn’t show. While practice putting on the putting green, I commented that I didn’t have the yips, I had the shivers.
Gene, Bill, and Larry were pleasant guys to play alongside in our foursome. We had some good laughs, we’re not good enough to be serious.
I worked very hard to shoot a 97, which because of my handicap and that 9 on the back nine adjusted to 95. With my Index, I can’t post over 8 or “Snowman” as we golfers grudgingly refer to them. However, I’m happy to report that my handicap is going up, which means I get more strokes. We get what we deserve, and if you’ve seen my scores lately you’d know I’m no sandbagger!
