Dave Randall

 Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Los Angeles native Dave Randall caught the broadcasting bug in high school and college, announcing sports for Carson High School and Long Beach State University.  His first "professional" job in radio came in 1980 as a paid intern, at K-EARTH 101's sister station KNX-AM, writing news reports.  His first on-air gig was at KSUL and later KLON on the campus of Long Beach State in 1981.

An avid reader and a big fan of any book by John Irving, Dave journeyed south to San Diego in 1986 to KWLT, where he stayed for two years and later to Q105 in Ventura County.  In the spring of 1994, he made a tape of what he sounded like in the K-EARTH 101 environment and sent it to Mike Phillips, K-EARTH 101's Program Director at that time.

"The Real Don Steel was an idol of mine, and I figured it was worth a shot to get to work on the same staff – not that I expected to.  I got the shock of my life three months later when Mike left a message offering me the job.  My hands shook for the first two years," Dave commented.

Dave started at K-EARTH 101 on July 17, 1994. When he's not on the air or enjoying the California sun, Dave, the winner of the coveted Golden Mike Award in 1982 for Best Sports Segment, loves watching the Dodgers.

Dave says, "I've lived in Southern California all my life and I was fortunate enough in 1994 to be able to work on-air in my hometown."

Birthday: July 28

On-air at K-EARTH 101 since: July 17, 1994

What led me to K-EARTH 101: K-EARTH Program Director, for 11 years, Mike Phillips, gave me a shot and I will always be grateful.

What would I be doing if I wasn't on K-EARTH 101:  Writing or doing sports

My Funniest Radio Story:  The bounds of decency prevent me from sharing my juiciest details, but it concerns a construction worker, his wife, marital discord, and open window, an explosion of salty language, and my open microphone... which caught all of the above.
