This morning, we had two guys on with us who were the inspiration for the movie “21,” about a group of MIT students who started a card-counting scheme and took Vegas for about $10 million! Their website is www.blackjackinstitute.com . Check it out.
OCCASIONALLY, WE GET SOME INTERESTING EMAIL! FOR EXAMPLE:
Gary, I like your show but, Hermosa Beach is pronounced Ermosa Beach. Spanish words that start with an"H" the H is silent. Like Hacienda Hghts, is pronounced Ahcienda Hghts. Oscar de la Oh-yah. OK? Vic in La Habra
HEY, VIC! (or should I say, “ey, Vic?”)
I’m using the John Wayne pronunciation! That’s why they call me “The Vanilla Gorilla!”
Hi Gary and Morning Show, I just wanted to share that my daughter Lauren, who is 10, played "Generation Gap" this morning and didn't even ask me for help! We listen to KEarth all the time and both my kids love all the music and sing along. I feel like I'm exposing them to quality music. Beats Hanna Montana! Thanks for all you do, Vanessa from Costa Mesa
THANK YOU, VANESSA! And congratulations, Lauren!
Dear Gary, I want to tell you what is most likely the first positive story you've heard about the school budget cuts. A group of parents got together and decided complaining about it didn't solve a thing, so they chose to organize a fundraiser and generate the funds required to prevent loss of teachers, programs, etc. On Saturday, May 10th from 11 AM to 3 PM they will have food, fun, music and entertainment all for $15/person with all proceeds going to make up for the budget cut for the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula School District. The Peninsula Education Fund has already raised $800,000, leaving a $400,000 shortfall, which is a pretty ambitious undertaking. My boss, Sussan Sharifian, is a co-chair for this event. I would really like to see them succeed so who better to turn to than you. I am really happy to see people step up to make a difference. I hope you will tell people just what an extraordinary undertaking this is and encourage them to come out on Saturday, 5/10 to the Peninsula High School on Silverspur just north of Hawthorne Blvd., in Rolling Hills Estates. Tickets may be pre-purchased at the schools for $10, or pay $15 at the gate. If you and Lisa would like to attend I will purchase your tickets and have them waiting at Will Call as my way of letting you know how much I enjoy your show. Best Regards, Kathleen
Tomorrow, Gary Lewis joins us to talk about his hits, his dad, and his life!
