Hi Gary and Morning Show, I just wanted to share that my daughter Lauren, who is 10, played "Generation Gap" this morning and didn't even ask me for help! Dear Gary, I want to tell you what is most likely the first positive story you've heard about the school budget cuts. A group of parents got together and decided complaining about it didn't solve a thing, so they chose to organize a fundraiser and generate the funds required to prevent loss of teachers, programs, etc. On Saturday, May 10th from 11 AM to 3 PM they will have food, fun, music and entertainment all for $15/person with all proceeds going to make up for the budget cut for the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula School District. The Peninsula Education Fund has already raised $800,000, leaving a $400,000 shortfall, which is a pretty ambitious undertaking. My boss, Sussan Sharifian, is a co-chair for this event. I would really like to see them succeed so who better to turn to than you. I am really happy to see people step up to make a difference. I hope you will tell people just what an extraordinary undertaking this is and encourage them to come out on Saturday, 5/10 to the Peninsula High School on Silverspur just north of Hawthorne Blvd., in Rolling Hills Estates. Tickets may be pre-purchased at the schools for $10, or pay $15 at the gate.
