Over the weekend, we lost a great LA radio legend: Big Ron O’Brien, former afternoon guy at KIIS FM, passed away in Philadelphia. Ron was working at our sister station, WOGL. He died of pneumonia. Ron was the afternoon jock at KIIS during the their glory days in the 80s. He was one of the best ever, and a friend to a lot of people in the business. He will be missed.

Hello, I was wondering if a dvd would be available for purchase for k-earths 35th anniversary concert? I had won tickets to see the concert and thought it was excellent. I would really like to have that dvd to see the concert all over again. What a great night! If it is possible can you please let me know? Thank you.-Lori from Hawaiian Gardens

Lori, we don’t have a license to release that material, but there are several live albums from the various bands at the show. Check one of the on-line sellers, like Amazon.com.

Dear Gary, During the week of April 21st, someone from Azusa wrote you a e-mail asking you about the name/title of a song about a young man who met a young girl at a dance and walked her home. She started to get cold and asked him for his jacket (but it was really his sweater that she asked him for). As a teenager of the 60's, I remember hearing this song. During the 60's there were quite a number of "Dead Teenage Songs" - "Tell Laura I Love Her"; "Leader of the Pack"; and one of them was called "Laurie" which is the name of the song that person was looking for. It goes like this: Laurie (Strange Things Happen) Dickey Lee Last night at the dance I met Laurie So lovely and warm An angel of a girl Last night I fell in love with Laurie Strange things happen in this world As I walked her home she said it was her birthday I pulled her close and said, "Will I see you anymore?" And suddenly she asked for my sweater And said that she was very very cold. I kissed her goodnight at her door and started home Then thought about my sweater And went right back instead. I knocked at her door And a man appeared I told him why I'd come And he said, "You're wrong, son You weren't with my daughter How can you be so cruel To come to me this way My Laurie left this world on her birthday She died a year ago today." A strange force drew me to the graveyard I stood in the dark I saw the shadows wave And then I looked and I saw my sweater Lying there upon her grave Strange things happen in this world. ****************** I don't know if you ever found out the name of the song. But I knew the words but not the name of it. I thought it was her mother that came to the door but it was her father. This song drove me "crazy" trying to figure out the name. I hope this helps. Have a great week. Josie in Pasadena
